Remembering Bruce Wiegand

ROBERT BRUCE WIEGAND. It is with great sorrow that we report that Colombia Support Network’s Secretary of the Board of Directors, Professor Bruce Wiegand, passed away on January 26 at the young age of 48 after a 10-month courageous battle with cancer. Bruce, a professor at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, brought great energy and originality to our board and will be terribly missed. He also incorporated Colombia into his university classes, often inviting CSN to provide a presentation to classes. He generously helped us with student interns, who provided valuable assistance to us while working on university classroom projects focusing on Colombia. Bruce’s family has very kindly suggested that as a memorial donations in his name be given to the Colombia Support Network. We plan to establish a fund on Bruce’s name to carry out our sister community program, a program which Bruce supported enthusiastically.
