         	The USO as military objective of the "paras"

Bogota (COLPRENSA) -- Javier Villanueva, representative of the Union
Sindical Obrera, USO, [petroleum workers' union] revealed that Carlos
Castano, chief of the Peasant Self-Defense Forces of Cordoba and Uraba
(ACCU), has singled-out the union organization as a military objective.

"That puts the union on a state of alert and therefore we are calling on
all Colombians to join in solidarity with the people of Barrancabermeja
and with us because the authorities have not said anything to us,"
indicated the union leader.
