In the eve of diverse versions over a possible intervention of American
Armed Forces in Colombia, to combat guerrillas in the mountains, the chief
of the Southern Command of the United States, General Charles E. Wilhem,
arrived in Bogota.
General Wilhem will spend the next two days in conference with Colombia's
minister of Defence, Gilberto Echeverri and Police Director, general Rosso
Jose Serrano.
General Wilhem is expected to visit Caguan, where in recent days the
Colombian Army suffered heavy casualties in the hands of the guerrillas
operating in the area.
